In Nigeria, Children’s Day is observed on May 27.
Children’s Day presents ample opportunities to highlight the issues that affect children’s rights and welfare.
Children in contemporary Nigeria constitute a vulnerable group in society as they are exposed to both opportunities and threats at an early age.
During this year’s Children’s Day celebration, the Foundation calls for greater attention to be paid on:
- the rights of children to education, health care, and other societal opportunities.
- Elimination of all forms of Child Abuse, including Child labour and exploitation.
• Access to nutritious food and safe drinking water for children.
• Access to Safe, quality, and inclusive learning environments.
• Protection of Children from all forms of harm. On this special day, the Foundation reaffirms her unequivocal conviction that every child is a promise; A promise of new ideas, fresh energy, and a better tomorrow.
In this light, the Foundation celebrates the future of humanity and reaffirms its commitment to support and promote the well-being of children globally through initiatives that nurture, educate, and empower children—the most vulnerable yet most valuable members of society.
