Dr Patrick Otamere Okundia is a Chief Consultant Ear, Nose, Throat/Head and Neck Surgeon and the Past Honourable Commissioner for Health, Edo State. He was born in Benin City on the 29th day of March, 1969. He had his Primary Education at Olua and Edaiken Primary Schools, Benin City from where he proceeded to the prestigious Edo College, Benin City where he obtained both the General Certificate of Education and the West African School Certificates in flying colours in 1987. He immediately gained admission to study Medicine/Surgery at the best University (UNIVERSITY OF BENIN) with a Matriculation Number of 'MED8700548', from where he obtained the MB;BS Degree in 1994. He thereafter had his one year Internship Programme at the Central Hospital, Benin City. After the mandatory One Year National Youth Service in Bauchi State, he relocated back South where he worked as a Medical Officer both in Anambra State and in Benin City before proceeding for his Post Graduate(Residency) Training Programme in the Faculty of Otorhinolaryngology(ENT Surgery), which he did through the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Benin City; University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan and the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital(UNTH), Enugu. He obtained the Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons(FWACS) in 2009, passing all the exams at first attempts. Since 2010, he has been in the service of Edo State Hospitals Management Board where he has occupied numerous management responsibilities including Head, Department of ENT Surgery( Central and Stella Obasanjo Hospitals), Medical Director (Stella Obasanjo Hospital) before being appointed the Honourable Commissioner for Health, in the Governor Godwin Obaseki's Carbinet. He is the Medical Director/ CEO of Wilbon ENT/ Head & Neck Clinic in Benin City. He is also an Associate Lecturer with the Department of Surgery, Faculty of Health Sciences, Igbinedion University, Okada. Dr Patrick Okundia has held several leadership and administrative positions at both Professional and Political levels. He has served NMA both at the State and National levels at various times. A Former Treasurer, Edo NMA, Former Assistant Secretary, Edo NMA.. Former Deputy Chairman, Edo NMA. Former National Committee Chairman on Health/Medical Missions... He is a member of many Clubs and Professional Societies and a recipient of several awards. He is happily married to his dear wife, Mrs Akhere Ejeme Okundia and they are blessed with a lovely daughter, Miss Owen Osasuyi Okundia.
